what this is

elevenbaselab is a one-person lab documenting the process of learning ai engineering from scratch. the goal is to build real projects — agents, tools, pipelines — without paying for anything until it's proven worth funding.

everything published here runs on free infrastructure: groq, gemini ai studio, github models, cloudflare workers ai, and local models via ollama. the cost ladder is a core part of the philosophy, not just a budget constraint.

principles

don't pay for what you can get free. exhaust free options before reaching for a card.
build in public. share what works and what doesn't.
human decides what and why. the llm decides how.
match rigor to scope. not every project needs a nine-agent pipeline.
ask one good question instead of guessing five times.
commit after each task. keep retries cheap.
